Lenses and Photography Vocabulary

I would use a telephoto lens during a soccer game because i will be able to zoom in on the players but i won't need to zoom in that much because I'm close to the players and i won't need to zoom in so much so it can still look realistic.

I would use a prime lens to take pictures of a live concert at night where I'm sitting in the front seat because i wouldn't need to zoom and it won't matter if its dark because i have a large aperture.

I would use a wide-angle lens to take a picture of a landscape or a large piece of land to be able to take a picture of the whole scenery without have to cut anything out it would be able to be long.

Depth of Field (shallow and wide)- range or distance between the nearest and the furthest object. You could use Depth of Field when you want to really focus on an object you zoom in and take a close picture of the object causing its surrounding to blur and just focus on that.

Light (angle and intensity)- measures of light are commonly known as intensity. You can use light when ever there is a lot of light in an area your trying to take a picture of.

Shadows Diffusion- is an area where direct light from a light source cannot reach due to obstruction by an object. This can be used in a place where its dark away from all light to take a picture.

Exposure- is the amount of light allowed to fall on each area. This can be used when you take a picture outside to determine how much light you will allow on a certain place.

Aperture (f-stop)- is a hole or an opening through which light travels. You can control how much light travels when your taking a picture either inside or outside.

Shutter speed- the amount of time that the shutter is open. This can be used during a picture to determine weather its blurry or clear.

ISO- measures the sensitivity of the image sensor.
